Ruth was born in Bakewell, England on September 8th, 1862 to Maurine D. Davidson and Jack Keckory. As a girl she was energetic, proud, and stubborn, exhausting her poor parents at every opportunity. She was sorted into Gryffindor at age eleven and absolutely fell in love with Hogwarts. After graduation she worked for a few years as a Curse-Breaker before accepting her current position as the Ancient Studies professor. While she’s dated several eligible bachelors, she has yet to fall in love with one and is currently unmarried. She can often be found helping students with their homework, browsing the library shelves, or cheering for the Gryffindor Quidditch team.

ENTJ-T 8w7. Ruth is a realistic, confident woman who knows how to get things done. She despises laziness and won’t take excuses from anyone, regardless of age or station. Ruthlessly efficient, she’s been known to march into any and every teacher’s classroom to state her demands and leave with her mission complete. Despite her intimidating demeanor, she’s a kind and understanding teacher, and inspires her students to go after their dreams. She stands up for them whenever possible and makes sure their wants and needs are met. As a result she overworks herself and regularly grades papers late into the night. She's very passionate about Ancient Studies and loves to see her students experience the same sort of wonder and curiosity for it that she had as a girl.

Ruth has light brown hair, pale hazel-green eyes, and a fair complexion. She walks with her head held high, her shoulders back, and an air of authority beyond her position. You’ll never catch her slouching. She’s fairly tall (5’9”) and has a slim build.

Ruth is terrified of heights. It’s bad enough that she can’t stand on her own in high places and she was exempt from flying class when she was a student at Hogwarts. While she still attends all of the Quidditch games without fail, you’ll sometimes see her sit down every now and then when there’s a scary moment for a player.

She prefers her students call her Ms. Keckory in class. Outside school hours and after graduation they're free to call her by her first name.

Despite outward appearances, Ruth is secretly a huge romantic. She’s read too many unrealistic romance novels to count, and as a result has very high standards when it comes to men. While she tries to convince herself she’s happy on her own (which she certainly is to an extent), she longs to be married and have children of her own one day. She worries it may never happen now that she’s almost 30.

Ruth has two well-loved pet white mice named Cream and Sugar. Their names were inspired by her all-time favorite beverage - coffee.

As one might guess, Ancient Studies was one of Ruth’s favorite classes as a girl. She loved learning about how magic had evolved through time and hearing stories of the lost treasures such old magic protected. She’s of a firm belief that classes about history should be exciting instead of boring. She intensely dislikes Professor Binns for his teaching methods.

As a teacher, Ruth is always there for her students. Her door is always open for questions, homework help, and even to talk about teenage drama.
